Dear Admission Committee,
I am XXX xx, a teacher of Guangdong University of Foreign Studies. This letter is intended to serve as a recommendation of XXX xx to your college. I have been acquainted with her in her junior year. When xx told me that she was applying for your program for further study, I was really pleased.
Xxx’s outstanding leadership and teamwork skills are well demonstrated in terms of the organization of work and unity of students. In her junior year, as a well-organized team leader, the student, coupled with her team members completed four excellent interpreting Demos, respectively themed by Guangzhou Baby hatches, study abroad, Guangdong prison break and drug-related law cases. Before interpretation, the student organized the team members to work in close cooperation with an appropriate division of labor, search for relevant background information and carefully read common English words and expressions in related fields. For example, when preparing for the interpreting material of "Guangzhou Baby hatches", the student organized the team members to make adequate preparation for interpretation material by viewing the reports and evaluation of mainstream newspapers and magazines on Guangzhou Baby hatches, as well as the reports on Baby hatches in other areas; during the Demo, as one of the interpreters, the student made the best of the note-taking skills learned in class, comprehensively wrote down the main information of speakers and presenter’s speech on the basis of understanding the spokesman’s speech content, and provided an accurate interpretation with skillful English-Chinese interpretation and Chinese-English interpretation; what’s more, in the process of consecutive interpretation, she also made a tacit cooperation with another interpreter in time, accurate information transmission and interpretation style.
By virtue of effective leadership and execution, Xxx is efficient in working with teachers and students. As the squad leader, she once organized a total of 24 students in the class to perform a costume comedy on the College Welcome Party, namely "What You Don’t Know”—a pioneering show created and performed by the WHOLE class in the history of college welcome party. Despite heavy study load and the internships that consumed most of her spare time in her junior year, the student effectively mobilized the enthusiasm of her classmates, organized them to work in close cooperation with an appropriate division of labor according to their interests and specialties, and conducted efficient script writing, costumes preparation, dance choreography, narrative voice and rehearsal work in the spare time. Finally, the stage performance at the party was widely welcomed and recognized by the audience.
Your program of study sounds ideally suited to Xxx’s needs and talents. She will bring her interest in scholarly research and program development. It is exciting to think of the ways in which she might contribute to your program. Please feel free to contact me for any information you might need.
Sincerely yours,
XXX, Instructor

Dear Sir/Madam:
I am writing this letter of recommendation for Mr.Caleb,my former student. I have known Mr. Caleb for more than 6 years since his freshman year at "University of Minnesota". At that time,he took the course-- "Mathematical Analysis," which I taught mainly for junior students majoring in Mathematics. To my surprise,I found he was among the few students in his class who could keep up with the pace of my lectures. Moreover,he often posed thought-provoking questions during the course. Thus it was natural that I liked discussing with this young man and became familiar with him. The more I knew him, the more I found he was talented at mathematics. As you can see,he got excellent scores on the course.
In fact,he ranked No. 1 on this 270 hours course in the talented student class which has 34 intelligent others. With his outstanding talent and solid mathematical background,he also did quite well in most other courses during his undergraduate study. By the way,you may wonder why his undergraduate scores look not so good compared to other Chinese applicants. It is easy to explain, because he belonged to the talented student class, which were required to endure harder test papers and stricter grading than most other college students did at least at "University of Minnesota". He even served as Prof. Linda s Research Assistant for one year. No one could deny his commitment to his job. As a matter of fact,Prof. Linda s electronic lab happened to be neighboring my office and I could always see him working in the lab, either repairing the instruments or helping Prof. Linda collect lab reports. Maybe one more example will demonstrate his commitment more clearly. Once he suggested compiling a FORTRAN program to solve a complicated circuit problem in his class. In order to do that,he had to do a lot of computer work. However, because there were few computers available in our computer lab,he had to wake up at 5 a.m. in winter (please note: "Twin city" is a downtown near the north border of China,so it is pretty cold in winter and the heating system is not working very well.) to ensure the 1st position of the long waiting line for his classmates and himself! At last he and his classmates finished the program successfully with his great efforts.
As to his personality,I would like to say Mr. Caleb is a warm-hearted, honest and upright student. He was always ready to help others. During my lectures, many students got confused at some points and I could always see Mr. Caleb help them explain during breaks. In the meanwhile,I must admit that Mr. Caleb was a bit impatient sometimes.
Finally,I would like to conclude my recommendation as follows: frankly,Mr. Caleb is not a genius, but I promise his great intelligence, commitment to work and his kind nature will impress you deeply. Thus I recommend him without reservation for his admission and financial aid to your program. Please feel free to contact me if needed. Sincerely Yours

To whom it may Concern,I am writing this letter to attest to Paul’s skills in language and public relations. In the four years I have known him, I have been consistently impressed with his ability not only to negotiate complex ideas in other languages, but also to relate these things in a personable, conscientious fashion. His manner in these cases is both professional and personal, two qualities which I find particularly valuable in a professional setting. He has personally helped me in professional
negotiation for everything from train tickets to contract information, and I have always been able to count on him. I first met Paul in school, where he was a student at the university at which I taught. He was well-known to most of the westerners in town, who could call from different universities to ask for his help. Sometimes this help involved translation of
professional documents, and sometimes it involved personal help in making phone calls. Many of these westerners continue to call him today, even though they live quite far away from him, because they have come to trust him very much. From this foundation in public relations Paul has found positions in various professional capacities and has been highly-valued in each place. He is generally the sort of employee a company finds most valuable in its dealings with both foreign and domestic clients. He puts people at their ease with his language ability and manner, both of which communicate to people that they can relax and simply communicate. I would highly recommend Paul as an employee. His experience and manner are rare and very valuable. Robert Moore Mentor

dear colleagues:
as a teacher in department of biology, nankai university, a leading university in china, i am very pleased to take this opportunity to recommend one of my favorite students to your phd program. in september, XX, miss zhang was my students in general biology, the first professional course they take in the field. she likes it very much. i teach her in an open and interactive manner, she is active and passionate about answering class questions. miss zhang is bright, energetic and enthusiastic girl who loves speaking out her own ideas. she never escapes from those points of which she is skeptical.
apart from that, she often puts forward her ideas upon questions and exchanges all of her innovate ideas with me after class. upon ending of general biology course, i asked my students to write an essay upon their understanding of biology. i discovered miss zhang’s essay was so impressive and persuasive; her careful essay comes from dozens of references to biology literatures. in essay miss zhang stretched out her creative thinking upon status quo of biological research and branches in the field of biology.
all of this speaks to her creative and logical and scientific thinking capability. i am gladly to say that miss zhang has a clear understanding about general biology, that comprehension has been reflected fully in her essay. therefore miss zhang got a full point for her essay in her class, and other students took it as model essay for granted.
i believe miss zhang’s industriousness, passion and dedication will make her an ideal candidate you are seeking for your program, so i highly recommend her without any hesitation to you. and i will greatly appreciate it if you could accept her into your program. sincerely yours, prof. ×××

Dear Sir or Madam:
We take great pleasure in recommending Wang Yong, one of my favorite students, for admission into your distinguished graduate program.
Mr. Wang was admitted in 1986 at 14 years of age into the SPECWeAL CLASS for the GWeFTED YOUTHS, my university's unique program that caters to the intellectual needs of unusually talented Chinese youngsters. Wet was a rare privilege he earned with his nearly impeccable academic performance through the years of his elementary and secondary school.
He impressed me almost as he entered into my university, a major cradle of china's scientific and technological talents. At the time, members of the Gifted Class all had to spend half a month studying by themselves the principles of calculus and then take an exam so that we could evaluate their self-study capability. Mr. Wang scored the highest grade in that exam. He also exhibited a keenly whetted mind during class discussions. To my regret at the time, his English was not as good as his mathematics or physics.(缺点介绍,公正真实) But We noticed he made a point of working especially hard in improving his English during his five undergraduate years with us. By now, he seems to be at least as proficient in English as most of his former classmates in the Gifted Class.
Wen my experience with Mr. Wang, We was impressed with not only his extraordinary intelligence but also his ambitions and persistence. We am sure that Mr. Wang will be an outstanding student in any doctoral program that he may care to enroll in. So We would like to support him firmly in his quest recommendation into account when considering his application. We would greatly appreciate it you decide to accept him as he wishes.

i have known mr. × as a resourceful and goal-oriented individual since 20××, when he, as a freshman, attended the first lecture i delivered, at the beginning of which he asked perceptive and challenging questions with conspicuously typical english. then at the final exam of the first term, he got ×× which seems a bit lower, but if you take the difficulty of the test papers and my strict grading into account, you will understand why such a score is still among the top five. undoubtedly, he got excellent scores on other courses and ranked among the top 5% of his class during the rest years of his high school study.

Dear Admission Office:
I am writing to strongly recommend Miss/Mr. xxxx for admission into the famous University of Waterloo.
Through teaching and informal consultation, I had chances to get to know her/him academic potentials and her/him ideals before she/he left for Canada. In my opinion she/he can be reliably graded as one of the best undergraduates here in grade students with majors in our department. Miss/Mr. is apparently a very bright student, with special interests and enjoyment in mathematics especially in passionate and innovative ways of tackling and solving various problems in mathematics. Perhaps her/his present mathematics scores in Canada could support my view. She/he has very good observatory skills in experiments and can easily glean essence from complicated concepts, phenomena or conditions. Enthusiastic for novelty and creative thinkings and as evidence for leadership potentials, she can easily influence her/his classmates in both curricular and extracurricular activities, though only within not a long period before her/his transfer from this institution to another school in Canada, a brave move toward next stage of personal challenge and fulfilment. I was particularly impressed by Miss/Mr. xxX career goal of aiming for excellence in academic education and achievements in her/his chosen field.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if I can be of further assistance.
Sincerely yours

Dear Sir:
It is my pleasure to recommend Mr. Fu-ping Wang for his application to graduate studies in your school. Mr. Wang has been my research assistant of the National Science Council’s project "The United States and the United Nations’ Financial Crisis: The Role of U.S. Congress" since September 1997. His major responsibilities include information collecting, analyzing and translating. He is an enthusiastic and progressive young man with extremely high potentiality. Mr. Wang is not only quick at learning and good at solving difficult problems, but also with a logical mind that enables him to effectively analyze difficulties. All the work handed to him was completed satisfactorily. Actually, he is so reliable that I assign him with heavy
responsibilities. With his help, I have been able to spend more time in writing the research paper. I really consider myself very fortunate to have such a capable assistant. I am certain his diligence, coupled with a good competence and pleasant personality, will assure him of academic achievements in his future academic pursuits. I strongly recommend his admission without any reservation.
Sincerely yours,Chung Wei-XXX
